The treated area should be protected from the Sun, and shampooing is done at two days after surgery. Some doctors will wash patients the day after surgery.
Shampooing is important to prevent the crust from around the hair.
Crusts adhere to
the hair shaft and increases the risk of losing newly transplanted hair follicles during the first 7-10 days after the surgery.
For best results, all the instructions of post-operative care must be observed.
During the first ten days, the vast majority of transplanted hair , inevitably traumatized by their relocation, will fall (so called « shock loss »).
After 2-3 months, from the hair follicles will start to grow new hair . Patient’s hair will grow normally and continue to thicken in the next 6-9 months. Any further hair loss is likely to be only from untreated areas. Some patients choose to use medicines to postpone such loss , while others are planning another transplant procedure , to cope with such possibilities.
